If you need a little help defending Taborea against the endless tide of dangers, just get yourself a pet!
What good is a pet?
This page explains the Cavy pet system. To find out more about Zodiac pets and their buffs, look under 'Zodiac Pets'.
The Sorrun family or Hazznor will help you with all of your pet needs. Here’s where you can find them:
The Sorruns or Hazznor can bring you to Miller’s Ranch. This tutorial zone is helpful if you want to:
Go to Pykesile. He will give you a Huntsman’s Trap and bait, then charge you with the task of luring and killing a monster. In doing so, you will release a Magic Cavy.
Catch it with the Huntsman’s Trap and grab its Pet Egg. Add the egg to a breeding slot in the pet menu and you’ve got your pet.
Pykesile will then reward you with an additional breeding slot.
You can also get food for your pet on Miller’s Ranch. To do so, help out the Miller sisters. With a bit of luck, you’ll get Golden Eggs from Jenna’s quest.
These can be used in two ways:
All you need to hunt for pets in Taborea is a Magic Cavy and a Huntsman’s Trap. Huntsman’s Traps can be obtained from the Sorruns or Pykesile.
You’ll find an enemy with a Magic Cavy:
Golden Magic Cavies often carry more valuable eggs than normal Magic Cavies. Yet it is still a matter of chance which egg you’ll get and what pet will be inside. Pay attention to the type, colour and element of the egg:
: Later, your pet attributes will also be affected by Loyalty, Nourishment and Aptitude. These increase by up to 45% per level.

From here, you have the following options:
Under the Information tab, you can check out your pet’s attributes. These are partially transferred to you when your pet is summoned.

You want a pet that will walk through fire for you – and survive?
All pets have the same passive skills, for example: Improved Defense, Improved Health, Improved Healing and Tenacity.
The fighting style of your pet depends on its appearance: A parrot fights in a different way from a wolf or a frog.
You can’t affect the active skills, but you can see them along the right side of the Skills tab.
Your pet can even help you when it’s not summoned – if it has the proper tools. These can be obtained from the Sorruns or Pykesile.
Depending on which tools you give your pet, it can help you with Herbalism, Woodcutting or Mining.
The pet’s level in each of these categories determines which resources it collects and how much.
Here’s an example of how a herb-collecting pet could process Mountain Demon Grass, for example:
|2. ||Select Mountain Demon Grass Thicket|
You can see what your pet is looking for under “Possible Products”, and you can see how much it has found under “Production Result”.
See the interface for more info.
Merge one pet with another one. This can be done up to 3 times a day and improves the pet’s:
You’ll need two pets of the same element: an agent and a reagent.
If you have a Rune Pet Egg, you can merge it with a pet of any element.
If you have a Rune Spirit, you can only use it as an agent when merging with another Rune Spirit.
You will then see a preview of the attributes that the agent pet would take on.
If you like what you see, then merge away!
In pair merging, you can merge up to 6 reagents with an agent per day.
If your backpack is full of eggs that you don’t want to merge, just sell them at the Auction House.
